Eliminate Plastic Litter in our Oceans
by The Mare Nostrum Global Initiative (Non-governmental organization (NGO))
The Mare Nostrum Global Initiative is committed to the elimination of plastic litter in our oceans by brokering multi-stakeholder partnership sto ensure effective, economic and ecologically driven change to the life-cycle of plastics. We aim to tackle the marine plastic litter problem at its roots by working with industry to transform the synthetic plastics paradigm and with governments to implement policies that will incite positive change across multiple sectors. We also strive to articulate and empower the initiatives and innovations of existing organisations to leverage efficiency in plastic waste control and reduction.

Mare Nostrum promises to oversee an efficient flow of processes and coordinated actions -- from local reuse, recycling and reduction, to developing a framework of economic drivers and public policies to enable them-- while making it replicable and able to scale-up, providing measurability and transparency in reporting outcomes.

The initiative will develop two pilot projects tackling plastic waste in Indonesia and in Baja, Mexico
