The conservation strategy in place at Oceanário de Lisboa since 2007 includes the financial support to conservation projects developed by several institutions (Universities, NGOs, others).
The Ocean Conservation Program for the period 2017-2021 considers an increase in the number of projects supported as well as an increase in the budget, which provides:
i) Funding to promote the study, formation and acquisition of knowledge in the field of ocean conservation
ii) Promoting collaborative relationships with national and international reference institutions to share knowledge and carry out research activities in this area
iii) Carrying out actions to mobilize for the preservation and conservation of aquatic ecosystems
iv) Allocation of human resources necessary to strengthen and develop conservation activities
