No butts on the beach
by Province of West Flanders (Government)
Campaing In the summer of 2017. We want to sensitize the visitors at the beach that cigarette butts don't belong on the beach. They disappear under the sand and contain toxic and plastic particles. Therefor we distribute free ashtrays all over the coastal municipalities through tourism offices, surf clubs, the rescuers at the beach, the beach bars, etc... Also a men dressed in a cigarette butt will be seen in all municipalities. He will also sensitize the smokers and give them a free ashtray.
