The EU commits to present a series of studies on biodiversity conservation in Africa, Asia and Latin America as part of the "Larger Than . " series, parts of which will contribute to the enhancement of the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources. These studies will centralise and transfer scientific and research knowledge, which will be essential for the provision of strategic advice to states and non-state actors on issues which are directly related to the implementation of some SDG14 targets and other ocean related SDGs.
This set of strategic documents on biodiversity conservation in Africa, Asia and Latin America are being published under the "Larger Than . " series. A first document has already been published (with great success) on African Terrestrial Biodiversity Conservation under the title "Larger Than Elephants" and in the coming months the document "Larger Than Whales" which will cover African Marine Biodiversity Conservation Strategic Issues will be published. The Asia and Latin American documents will each cover specific chapters on respectively the Corral Triangle and the Latin American and Caribbean Marine Biodiversity Conservation Issues.
Progress reports
By 2020, sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems to avoid significant adverse impacts, including by strengthening their resilience, and take action for their restoration in order to achieve healthy and productive oceans
Increase scientific knowledge, develop research capacity and transfer marine technology, taking into account the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission Criteria and Guidelines on the Transfer of Marine Technology, in order to improve ocean health and to enhance the contribution of marine biodiversity to the development of developing countries, in particular small island developing States and least developed countries
