Development of a globally recognized framework to evaluate tropical small scale fisheries against environmental sustainability standards
by Monterey Bay Aquarium on behalf of all partners (Non-governmental organization (NGO))
Monterey Bay Aquariums Seafood Watch program is partnering with Rare, Asian Seafood Improvement Collaborative (ASIC) and Salty Girl Seafood to develop a framework for recognition of small-scale fisheries that have met Seafood Watch environmental standards. This collaboration aims to build capacity in small-scale fisheries and bring economic benefits to fisherman, build local capacity and capabilities, and the marketability of fishery products that have met sustainability standards. Pilot of framework will be in 3-4 fisheries in the Philippines and Indonesia.
