The South East Marine Protection Forum
by New Zealand Department of Conservation and Ministry for Primary Industries (Government)
To provide recommendations to Ministers on a network of marine protected areas along the south east coast of NZ consistent with the NZ Biodiversity Strategy and the Marine Protected Areas Policy and Implementation plan. The Government appointed Forum has been established to represent a wide range of stakeholders. The Forum has considered scientific and community input and existing users in the preparation of a draft proposal to protect varying habitats and ecosystems in the region, for public consultation. The Forum will consider all public submissions and any further information, before preparing its final recommendations to Ministers on a network of south-east coast marine protected areas.
