Assesment of the marine environment status in Albania

The overall objective is to have a sustainable management of marine and natural marine resources in Albania. As such, an Assessment of the state of the marine environment in Albania for the period 1991-2016 will be carried out. The main expected result is to prepare a quantitative and qualitative assessment report on the state of the marine environment as water resources and natural resources in Albania. This report will cover different aspects such as flora and fauna richness of the Adriatic sea, human impact on the chemical and biological quality of the water, sustainable use of resources and exploitation related to fishery and aquaculture.

Increase scientific knowledge, develop research capacity and transfer marine technology, taking into account the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission Criteria and Guidelines on the Transfer of Marine Technology, in order to improve ocean health and to enhance the contribution of marine biodiversity to the development of developing countries, in particular small island developing States and least developed countries
