by Oceano Azul Foundation (Philanthropic organization)
This voluntary commitment assures support by Oceano Azul Foundation to the work of Ocean Alive namely in its campaign Shellfish fishing without litter.
This campaign aims to eliminate the contamination by the plastic introduced by local users of the marine ecosystem of the one of the most important wetland in Europe, located in Portugal, the Sado estuary. This ecosystems includes seagrass beds and salt marshes.

Ocean Alive organizes beach clean-up and sensitization activities supported by volunteers and local coastal community with the view of a Sado estuary cleaned and maintained.

Ocean Alives campaigns also focus on creating awareness within the local fishing community and on the mobilization of stakeholders aiming at reducing the entry of plastic in the Ocean.

With the support of the Oceanrio de Lisboa / Oceano Azul Foundation the project will also create a network of good practices within the fishing community of Sado, through women fishers "Guardis do Mar" and a network of stakeholders with a view to implementing solutions and awareness of the problem of plastic in the ocean.
