The World Ocean Space - A Voice for the Oceans on the Global Stage. An Interdisciplinary Hub for Art, Science, Exploration and Conservation.

The World Ocean Space is a commitment to presenting transdisciplinary research and collaborations on some of the most urgent issues of our time that relate to the oceans. This will transpire through installations, soundscapes and film screenings, performances and lectures, workshops and participative programming. The World Ocean space in venice will convene artists, scientists, traditional and current leaders on issues of conservation and management of our ocean resources. The World Ocean Space will feature the work of expeditions and exploration and will provide draw the experiences from ocean spaces convened across the planet beginning with the Pacific ISlands, Caribbean and Europe that will expand the opportunities to influence and and inspire new ideas and actions for a healthy ocean.
The Ocean Space will be
● A forum that creatively engages the public with the need for a healthy and sustainable ocean in order to seed a movement for collective action.
● A catalyst for impactful partnerships that brings together diverse groups of people to focus on specific challenges affecting the oceans.
● A hub that supports young people to co-create actionable ideas to empower future generations to conserve the health of the oceans.
Through a series of collaborations with partners countries - Fiji, Jamaica and Palau, Venice-based institutions such as the Istituto delle Scienze Marine (ISMAR) and UNESCO, partner NGOs such as the Alligator Head Foundation and Private Sector sponsors, the Ocean Space will focus its educational and outreach programme on increasing the ocean literacy of visitors in order to enable them to understand the oceans influence on them and their influence on the oceans.The World Ocean Space and the work of TBA21 on oceans will be launched in 2018 and will run till 2028.
