Reduction of Carbon Emissions from Idling Diesel Drayage Trucks at Container Shipping Ports
by EagleRail Container Logistics (Private sector)
EagleRail Container Logistics (ERCL) is a revolutionary shipping container conveyance system which will eliminate short-haul, dirty drayage trucks from a portion of the world's shipping ports and intermodal logistics terminals. When idling diesel trucks are replaced with a fully electric and automated, overhead container movement system (similar to package movement inside a robotic warehouse), CO2 emissions in and around that port can be reduced by as much as 60%. Plus, the top rail of the system can also be used for solar and wind power augmentation reducing the grid needs by over 20%. We have verbal commitments from four (4) countries and are testing the technology in China in the Fall of 2017 with roll-out and live system planned for construction in 2018 and 2019. By 2030 we hope to see EagleRail system in most developed and developing UN member countries.
