Creation of a community environmental team (Cration d'une brigade environnementale coutumire)
by Community Environmental Advisory Committee (Comité consultatif coutumier environnementale-CCCE) (Civil society organization)
Since 2009, the CCCE ensures the participation of traditional authorities in monitoring the environment of the plant VALE NC exercising the following missions:
Have seven environmental technicians and one engineer present on the Vale NC site and integrated into the various departments of the Environment Department of Vale NC
 Implement environmental studies programs concerning the exploitation and its impact
 Provide an opinion on the environmental management program of the South plant and on the monitoring protocol taking into account the applicable regulatory framework.
 Promote continuous information for neighboring populations and participate in the continuous development of monitoring and operational monitoring programs.
Today, the CCCE wishes to strengthen its missions by becoming more involved in the conservation, management and enhancement of natural terrestrial, fresh and marine waters in the South.
This reinforcement of the missions desired by the CCCE is divided into four axes:
 participate in the monitoring of the state of the natural environments,
 contribute to the monitoring and management of natural environments,
 consolidate relations with the various actors,
 better communicate and raise awareness,
The CCCE's current resources can not respond to this reinforcement, so the CCCE plans to create a customary environmental brigade (CLB) in the Greater South of New Caledonia.
The project is currently undergoing a feasibility study.
