Enhancing Coastal Communities Social and Ecological Resilience and Reducing Vulnerabilities towards Fisherfolk Empowerment

Tambuyog voluntarily commits to contribute to the countrys attainment of SDG 14 through:

-empowerment of women and men municipal fisherfolk who are capable of claiming and protecting their rights over the sustainable use of municipal waters , and influencing duty-bearers in responding to fisheries management, livelihoods and social protection of fishing communities in at least 9 coastal municipalities in strategic fishing grounds . Continue Community organizing as one one of the key components towards attainment of the goal.
-continue to assist local government units in enhancing their capacity on sustainable fisheries and coastal management
- providing direct services to fiisherfolk in order to have secured and diversified sources of livelihoods; to provide direct services to the needs of municipal fishers;
Lobby governments to develop programs for increased investments in fisheries management and social protection programs.
This initiative, called Enhancing Coastal Communities Social and Ecological Resilience and Reducing Vulnerabilities towards Fisherfolk Empowerment (ECOSERVE ) aims to build and enhance social and ecological resilience in selected coastal communities in two major fishing grounds. It is a synergy and integration of development interventions in focused areas. It will primarily involve four major components or strategies, namely: sustained constituency-building and cooperative organizing; capacity building of both LGUs and fisherfolks; enterprise development and market facilitation; and policy research and advocacy.
