The objective of our voluntary commitment is to bring attention and awareness of young people towards SDG 14 and other linked SDGs. Sustainable management of marine resources and ocean conservation plays a crucial role in the well-being of mankind and social and economic development. Hence, it is important to encourage the participation of young people, being the flag bearer of future, to find solution to these issues.
Our voluntary commitment seeks to o empower young people and expand their participation in creating awareness on SDG14 by having
1. Organizing social media campaign using evidences and motivational quotes to educate the public about why oceans matters
2. To conduct a capacity training workshop for young people on Ocean conservation and preservation
3. To conduct a public awareness campaign at local, national and international level by targeting children at schools, institutions of higher learning and youth focused or youth led non-government organizations on ocean conservation, reducing plastic, marine litter and micro-plastics
The implementation of this commitment endorses the engagement of young people in conserving the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. This initiative will recognize best possible ways and practices that champions SDG14, through learning and sharing. .this initiative will empower young people to take local action in their communities and thereby create a chain reaction in bringing about awareness about the ocean.
The progress of the voluntary commitment will be monitored regularly by posting updates via social media, surveys and reports.
