Sea Pact funding support for Responsible Aquaculture Foundation (RAF) Global Responsible Aquaculture On-Line Training
by Sea Pact (Non-governmental organization (NGO))
Sea Pact funding support for Responsible Aquaculture Foundations (RAF) project to help build out the RAF Education Program, an effective Internet-based education platform to provide global training in responsible aquaculture across multiple languages. This project aims to improve the state of aquaculture by disseminating training regarding responsible and effective management of aquaculture farms, hatcheries and other facilities in the seafood production chain.
The Responsible Aquaculture Foundation has developed an effective Internet-based education platform with global reach that supports the further growth of a sustainable aquaculture industry.
RAF develops and presents online courses that can help producers responsibly raise more wholesome seafood, while at the same time minimizing environmental impacts and maintaining animal welfare and food safety.
RAF seeks grant support that will allow it to serve more aquaculturists around the world by expanding its selection of online courses and providing translations of those courses into multiple languages. RAFs goal via this expansion project is to significantly widen the distribution of its important information to effect improvements in facility management, especially in major production areas
in Asia and Latin America.
Objectives
The core objectives of the RAF Education Program are to equip users to identify issues and risks
in their systems and understand what changes could be made to achieve best practices. This information allows farms and other aquaculture facilities to target improvements in seafood safety, disease management, environmental impacts and other areas.
The RAF Education Program strives to present practical course information that can be realistically applied at most facilities to yield industrywide gains. Site users who enroll in courses learn background theory to better understand production processes, as well as how to improve problem areas at their facilities. This translates to more food for the world, as well as economic advances.
