More specifically in support of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Goal 14, WMU commits to:
developing and delivering advanced post-graduate education, in our Masters programme in maritime affairs, through two new specializations: one in Maritime Energy Management, and another in Ocean Sustainability, Governance & Management. These tailored educational programmes train and prepare maritime and ocean leaders.
in partnership with the Nippon Foundation, launch a Global Ocean Institute in early 2018 at the WMU. The new Institute will have a specific focus on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Goal 14 in particular. The Institute will work across the sectoral divides in ocean affairs, engage in forward-looking dialogue among governments, ocean industries, research institutes, civil society and other academic institutions, and produce policy and regulatory advice.
