Brazilian Alliance for Sustainable Seafood (BASS)

The Brazilian Alliance for Sustainable Seafood intends to work collectively to achieve the main objectives and goals established by the group, which are:
- To develop a knowledge-base about seafood (wild capture fisheries and aquaculture production) sustainability in Brazil
- To provide seafood sustainability outreach to a diversity of Brazilian audiences;
- Stimulate sustainable entrepreneurship and other socially impactful initiatives;
- Incentivize corporate buyers to look for sustainable seafood and develop a corporate culture that drives changes in the supply chain;
- Establish opportunities for meetings and discussion forums;
- Identify, publicly recognize, and reward initiatives and actors for sustainable practice.

By 2020, effectively regulate harvesting and end overfishing, illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and destructive fishing practices and implement science-based management plans, in order to restore fish stocks in the shortest time feasible, at least to levels that can produce maximum sustainable yield as determined by their biological characteristics
