Our main commitment is to educate young people about the dangers of Plastic Pollution in our Oceans by communicating online with people globally and by presenting the problem locally with schools and having open meetings for the public. Ultimately, we are preparing for an International Conference in Eastbourne for teenagers where experts will present the problems and where there will be workshops for development and interchange of ideas so that when they return to their home countries, they will put to use what they have learned. We will then stay in contact to mentor and assist them through our Global Ocean Action Network. We recently welcomed Lewis Pugh, UN Patron of the Oceans to Eastbourne and we hope he will be one of our speakers as he is so inspirational.
Our methodology is to organise and support campaigns dealing with plastic pollution. Our main campaign is to encourage people locally to stop using Single Use Plastics with a campaign banner that businesses can put up in their premises to show customers their commitment as well as to spread the message as widely as possible. If we can get Sponsorship, we would like to carry out a leaflet drop to private houses.
By having monthly mini Conferences for the public, where different aspects of SDG 14, such as Sustainability of our Oceans, as well as causes and dangers of Plastic Pollution will be presented, we hope to spread the message.
Governance will be by Andrew and Oksana Stuart with Gonzalo Alvarez (UN Marine Biologist) as our Scientific Advisor.
