June 2019: Published white paper and initiated negotiations with private sector for creating a Global Industry Alliance for Marine Biosafety, with the aim of developing and to catalysing innovation and technology transfer related biofouling management.



June 2019: Participating countries focus on setting up national task forces to discuss biofouling management and invasive aquatic species at the national level.



October 2019. First R&D conference scheduled for 1-4 October 2019 to exchange the latest information and knowledge on biofouling management and associated technologies. www.glofouling.imo.org/events

12 Lead Partnering Countries (LPCs) have been selected to participate in the Project: Brazil, Ecuador, Fiji, Indonesia, Jordan, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Tonga. The Project has also received the endorsement from over 50 other partners, including developed countries, INGOs, CSOs, academia and research institutions and the private sector.
